This 14-inch soda-fired stoneware platter is both a functional serving piece and a visual exploration of Enneagram instincts, a system of self-knowledge. Concentric circles radiate from the center, representing the three primary instincts: self-preservation (nesting and security), one-to-one connection (deep relationships and transmission), and social navigation (awareness of group dynamics and structure).
The turquoise glaze moves fluidly across the surface, blending with flashing slips, scraffito carvings, and melting soda effects, creating depth and texture. Fired in an atmospheric kiln, the glaze and clay body interact in unpredictable ways, resulting in rich surface variation and bleeding effects. Designed for serving, display, or contemplation, this platter includes a steel cable on the underside for easy wall hanging.
